Costco Connection featured Start Up Princess as one of the leading communities for women entrepreneurs. From the May 2007 article, "Mom's the Word: A New Generation of Stay-at-Home-Moms Takes the Entrepreneurial World by Storm" pg. 25, Sites such as Ladies Who Launch, Start Up Princess.com (www.startupprincess.com) and the National Association of Women Business Owners (www.nawbo.org) are full-blown communities, providing support and
creating relationships while dispensing the advice-business and work/life balance-that was so lacking a decade ago.
Start Up Princess aims to not only provide press and educational opportunities like it did for Marina Westerdahl, but it strives to empower women to recognize that they have the power within themselves, as they are a "Princess" of their world, to make their dreams a reality through hard work, networking, and following inspiration.
Membership in Start Up Princess is FREE for women entrepreneurs. Currently there are members all over the United States, Canada, and Australia. Members of the "kingdom" enjoy daily "Magic Wand Tips", articles submitted by Fairy Godmothers/mentors. The first national conference is planned for September 22, 2007 in Salt Lake City.
Start Up Princess as a Start Up: Start Up Princess launched in July 2006 as a web "blog" by Salt Lake City Founder and Mom Entrepreneur, Kelly King Anderson. In 2005, Anderson's business plan won 2nd place at the Wake Forest University national competition and she caught the bug for start ups.. Following the competition searched for a community to meet and share ideas with other women entrepreneurs but did not find what she was looking for so she started her own organization, hoping that at least Utah women entrepreneurs could benefit and, the web seemed the ideal place to connect. Today over 200 women entrepreneurs are members and it is proving to be one of the top entrepreneur sites for women. Anderson feels privileged to mentor and encourage women to fulfill their dreams and make profitable businesses. Costco Connection's recent feature of Start Up Princess raised this start up's visibility considerably.
